Mertzon Court Docket Searches
Mertzon keeps no municipal docket search, calendar, payment portal, or records request form on its official city pages. So start by phone or letter. The state municipal directory lists the court's phone, fax, and mailing address. Ask for one specific municipal record rather than a broad sweep of county files.
- Read the court name on the citation or notice.
- Note the exact citation or case number and relevant date.
- Call Mertzon at 325-835-5791 for a city-court matter.
- Ask what the docket shows and how to request the record.
- If the case is not municipal, identify the correct Irion County court.
No Mertzon Online Court Docket
A city department page is not a court portal. Mertzon's official pages post no case lookup, live calendar, online pleas, or payment system. Results from Irion County or a private vendor should not be assumed to cover city citations at all.
Best fallback: call the city court with the citation number, date, and record sought. Confirm the response path before mailing a plea or payment.
No online tool does not mean no record. It means access starts with the municipal clerk. The clerk can walk you through the request process and say whether the file is public, restricted, or carries a copy fee.
Inside the Mertzon Municipal Court
Mertzon Municipal Court hears city-ordination cases and Class C matters within its jurisdiction. It is not a branch of the Justice of the Peace. The August 7, 2025 Office of Court Administration list names Allen Cecil Gilbert as presiding judge. Judge listings change. Confirm the current name when it matters. The city gives City Hall as 104 S Park View, Mertzon, TX 76941. The state court list gives a different mailing address for the court. It lists PO Box 456, Mertzon, TX 76941-0456. The phone is 325-835-5791, and the fax is 325-835-7570. It lists no court email. Those are the documented ways to reach the Mertzon court.
Mertzon Is the Sole City Profile
Mertzon is the seat of Irion County and its only incorporated city. The 2020 population source lists 747 residents. That is local context, not a count of yearly court filings.
There are no other city pages to list here. Historic Sherwood makes for interesting county-seat history, but it holds no current municipal docket.
Finding Mertzon Court Dates
Start with the date printed on your citation, then confirm it with Mertzon Municipal Court. The city posts no public calendar. A reset, compliance date, or later setting may live only in the court's current record. An Irion historical district or county PDF is not a municipal schedule.
| Date | The citation date or later setting confirmed by the court. |
|---|---|
| Time | The time supplied on the notice or by court staff. |
| Location | The city location confirmed for the appearance. |
| Judge | The presiding official listed for that setting. |
| Setting Type | The court's label for plea, pretrial, trial, or compliance. |
Mertzon Ordinance Chapters
The Mertzon ordinances page names Chapter 14 for Municipal Court. It also lists Chapter 19 for traffic, roads, and violations. The page is marked as work in progress. It helps you find the city's subject headings. But it is not a case database and proves nothing about a specific charge. When the actual record matters, ask the court for the citation, complaint, docket entry, or order. A code chapter alone cannot show a plea, a moved setting, or a signed final disposition.
Mertzon Traffic Ticket Lookups
Take a Mertzon municipal citation straight to Mertzon Municipal Court. The county JP's TrafficPayment link is not a Mertzon payment system. Money sent through the wrong court can leave the city case unresolved. Give the clerk your citation number. Ask how to confirm the case, enter a plea, contest it, or request an available option. The city publishes no fee table or online payment instructions. See Irion County traffic court for the broader split between JP and city traffic records.
Mertzon Minutes Are Not Dockets
The city posts a minutes and agendas page, but those files cover city-government meetings. They are not court calendars, citation files, or case dispositions.
| City record | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Council agenda or minutes | City minutes and agendas page |
| Municipal citation or setting | Mertzon Municipal Court contact |
| County or district case | Irion County clerk or court portal |
Keeping those paths separate avoids a common local search error. An "agenda" is a meeting agenda, and that label never turns the document into a trial-court docket.
How Mertzon Cases Reach the County
Municipal jurisdiction is limited. County criminal, civil, probate, and related matters go to the constitutional County Court. Felony, district civil, family, and juvenile files go to the 51st District Court. A Mertzon address does not turn any of those cases into municipal files.
Docket flow: Mertzon Municipal Court › Irion County courts › District Court
Follow the court named in the case. The District Clerk and County Clerk keep distinct record groups even though state materials call the office a combo clerk. The Irion County court docket routes county-level searches.
Ask Mertzon for One Record
Skip the broad request. Ask Mertzon for one specific court record instead. Give the court name, the exact citation or case number, the docket date, and the party name as the file spells it. Then name the document you want, such as a docket entry, complaint, plea, order, or disposition.
- Confirm that Mertzon Municipal Court is the custodian.
- State the exact citation or case number.
- Name the record and relevant date.
- Ask whether any portion is restricted or redacted.
- Confirm the copy fee, certification need, delivery method, and processing time.
Mertzon does not publish a turnaround time or promise electronic delivery for record copies. The city's payment method is unstated too. So ask before you mail any funds. One phone call can settle the whole process. A fax to the number in the state directory may work, but only after the court confirms it accepts records requests that way.
Mertzon Records and Sherwood History
Mertzon holds the county seat today, yet old Irion references can point to Sherwood. Official historical sources identify the 1901 Sherwood courthouse. The current Irion courthouse stands in Mertzon. That swap explains why a historical search may lean on a place name. The name no longer matches a live municipal docket. Context alone should never reroute an active court request. A current Mertzon citation stays with the city court. A current county or district case belongs with the proper Irion clerk. Older courthouse material fits an archive or history search, not a modern traffic-payment workflow.
The Portal to Texas History courthouse record documents the county's courthouse legacy. It posts no live case status, though. Genealogy work calls for different questions. Ask the custodian which older indexes survive and how they are searched. Also ask whether copies require staff retrieval. Keep the historic source date beside any conclusion you draw.
Mertzon Place Names and Court Records
Mertzon's city identity runs through Spring Creek and the Concho River Valley, with live oaks, parks, and proximity to San Angelo noted on the official city site. None of that decides where a case was filed. An address in Mertzon could land in a municipal, JP, county, district, or federal record. The case caption and court name are what route a request. For older municipal material, ask whether Mertzon keeps a paper index, an archived docket book, or a retained case file from the period in question. No online retention span exists, so give an approximate year and record type. The custodian can explain storage, retrieval, redaction, and copy limits, and can flag records that no longer survive or stay open.
Who Can See Mertzon Court Records
Nonrestricted court records are generally open to public inspection. Even so, the judiciary is not treated like an ordinary executive agency. That is how the Texas Public Information Act works. Access instead follows court rules, statutes, and orders. Sealed material, protected juvenile information, and sensitive personal data may be withheld or redacted. Request an existing, identifiable record. Include the citation or case number, the date, and the document type. The city can state its copy process and current fee. Keep in mind that a public docket line does not guarantee access. Some attachments in the file may stay closed.
Key Rules:
Texas Public Information Act excludes the judiciary from its governmental-body definition.
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 sets a process for access to judicial records.
Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 45A governs justice and municipal court procedure.
